March may have come in like a lion, but right now it's looking like it's going to go out like a polar bear.

The week's forecast calls for an early warm-up, with temperatures spiking in the upper 50s on Tuesday, but by week's end, The Weather Channel meteorologists say we could be looking at overnight lows in the mid-20s and more than eight inches of snow.

As temperatures fall on Tuesday evening they'll bottom up in the upper 30s overnight, and they'll stay in the upper 30s throughout the day on Wednesday.  A rain/snow mix is expected, with early rain turning to snow as Wednesday evening temperatures dip even further, into the mid-20s.  Thursday's expected high temperature will be in the mid-30s, with a significant snowfall accumulation of up to eight inches in some parts of mid-Michigan.

An additional inch or less of accumulation is possible on Friday, with high temps staying in the mid to upper 30s.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, in effect Wednesday at noon through Thursday at 8pm. While the NWS agrees that snow is possible on Thursday, the agency says exact accumulation amounts will depend on location and estimates could change based on the track of the storm in the coming days.
