There is a new scam alert out there this time its nationwide and involves the FDA or someone trying to be them. According to WILX, U.S. health authorities are alerting consumers to a new scam involving fake government warning letters sent to people who tried to buy medicine or prescriptions over the phone or online.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) believes the fake letters may part of a scam to extort money from people or other information. Authorities and the FDA have not heard of anyone being taken by this scam but they are warning people to look out for letters from the FDA saying (falsely) that the government is investing the consumer for buying medicines or prescriptions online. Just note that the FDA or other Federal agencies will not send letters to consumers but will send letters to companies or industry officials.
