The Portland Civic Players Summer Theater program for kids comes to an end this weekend with the final showing of all three plays they spent the last month working on. The program is offered to kids in Portland going into 4th grade through 12th grade the next fall. The month and half long Summer Theater is full of fun and exciting things. They play theater games that work on things like improvisation and getting a feel for the stage, they perform a lip sync for all the parents (it's FANTASTIC!), and then they are cast in one of three plays that they will put on for the public. The directors of this year's productions are Sara Pohl, Rory Miller, and Devann Hattis. There wouldn't be a Summer Theater program possible without them!

My son Avery started this year and is having the time of his life! He was cast as Linus VanPelt, a young farm boy, in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I had the opportunity to see his play this past Wednesday evening and was just amazed! All the kids worked very hard to bring this fun story to life.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow @ 7pm

Sunday, July 27th The Secret Garden @ 3pm
