Man Killed By Police During Tuesday Morning Incident Identified

Update:
The man killed by deputies on Tuesday morning has been identified as Matthew Lundy, 32, of Charlotte.  Lundy had a weapon, according to police, but whether he threatened to or appeared intent to use it, or did use it, is unclear.  The Lansing State Journal says Lundy has a lengthy criminal history.

WILX-TV says police received a call about a car in a ditch on Canfield Road Tuesday morning at around 7am.  It's unclear what transpired based on limited available information, but officers were subsequently involved in a shooting that left one person dead.  The three officers involved in the incident are alive and have been placed on administrative leave.

Canfield Road north of 5 Point Highway is closed while officials continue investigating.
