Owosso Community Players will debut Calendar Girls this summer at the Lebowsky Center June 10 – 12 and 17 – 19. Audiences will laugh along – and shed a few tears – during this hilarious tale of English women.  The stage adaptation of the beloved original film, Calendar Girls follows a group of women who decide to pose nude for a calendar to raise money for a local hospital after one of their husband’s dies of leukemia.

The news of the women's charitable project sparks a global phenomenon, and masses of press soon descend on their small hometown. The calendar is a success, but their friendship is put to the test in light of their new-found fame.

"It’s a show full of poignant moments – about friendship, determination and loss,” says Anna Owens, playing the role of Chris. “But it also offers plenty of hilarious moments as the six friends decide to pose nude for a calendar."

Based on the true story of 11 Women’s Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls has become the fastest selling play in British theater history.
