Overnight Fire in Lansing Claims One Life, Destroys Home

Very sad news this morning.

A fire in the 200 block of Lathrop St. last night has killed one person and two pets. Fire officials say a preliminary investigation points to the fire starting in the basment, where the deceased was trapped. The home was a total loss and the Red Cross was on hand to help out the two adults and two children displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown at the point and the investigation is ongoing.
