My Open Letter To A Kind Citizen

Something really surprising happened to me yesterday and I would love to share it with you. Let me set the scene...

...I had just gotten done at work and was waiting for my boyfriend to be done at his job so we could drive home together. He works at Sweet Loraine's Fabulous Mac n Cheez in East Lansing. He wasn't quite done with his shift, so I sat down at a table and took to Instagram to kill some time.

I didn't really pay much attention to the two ladies in the table next to me. But, I did notice when they got up to leave. I looked up for a split second and smiled as they walked away, just a friendly gesture. I heard the door ping signaling their departure. It was just a moment later when one of the ladies who had just left came back in.

"Excuse me," the curly haired brunette chimed, pulling me away from my phone. "I just wanted to tell you that you're just absolutely beautiful."

I barely managed a "thank you" before she smiled and went on her way.

The reason I want to share this story with you is not to express how good looking I think I am (in fact, I'm sure I was looking pretty hit when this mystery citizen offered me the compliment), but to show how something as little as a nice compliment can change someone's day for the better.

My day hadn't been going all that well...I woke up to like three new pimples, I was crazy tired (and my eyes showed it), and I could feel a migraine creeping up on me. And maybe this kind woman could see that I needed a "pick-me-up", or maybe she genuinely thought I was beautiful. But either way, I just wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to this good samaritan! Thank you for taking a moment out of your day to put a smile on the face of a complete stranger. You really made my day!
