The movie up for discussion this week is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

I'm excited to say that fans of the book will enjoy the movie very much! The movie followed really closely to the book and they didn't leave any important/major parts out (which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine). Mockingjay certainly did not disappoint!

Here are 3 reasons why you should be seeing The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 this weekend:

1. Intensity. The change of pace for Katniss and her companions leads to some electrifying action. The explosions, digital effects, fight sequences... they were all mesmerizing and expertly done. In fact, one of my friends that I went see the movie with was literally on the edge of her seat at least 50% of the time!

2. Tone. The tone of this movie is much darker than that of the first two, and I love it. I feel like the tone had to change to keep up with what's happening in the story line (if you haven't seen the second movie, be prepared for some slight spoilers!); Katniss is being taken to District 13 after being rescued from the Hunger Games and the other Districts are rising up against the Capitol. With all this going on, coupled with the fact that President Snow has Peeta, it makes for some very intense moments... especially between Katniss and Gale!

3. Character development. I have talked about this in other movie reviews, and that's because I feel like it's key to being enveloped into the story. If there's no character development then it's just a bunch of people reading lines that you've paid ten bucks to go and see! I could read lines off a piece of paper too; And I wouldn't charge you ten bucks to see it either! All the actors have really stepped up their game in this film, and it shows.

My only negative point would be that some scenes were visually dark, as in the scene was so dark that I had a hard time seeing what was going on. So I hope that your vision is better than mine!

All in all, this movie is a must see; especially if you're a fan of The Hunger Games book series! I would give it an "A-". Here is a preview for the movie, check it out for yourself!
