We in Michigan don't realize that we have an accent...we think anyone from out of state - or even up north - have an accent......but no, NOT US!

Well, yes we do.

We sloppily pronounce words because some are too difficult or we're just too lazy.
Proof? Here goes.

For example, we say:
BAFFROOM, not "bathroom"
CLOZE, not "clothes"
CMERE, not "come here"
CRICK, not "creek"
EECHA, as in "eecha dinner"
ER, not "or"
FEB-YOO-ARY, not "February"
GIMME, not "give me"
GOTTAGODA, not "I have to go to..."
GROSSREE, not "gro-cer-y"
INNERSTATE, not "interstate"
JEAT, not "did you eat?"
KYNA, not "kind of"
MEER, not "mirror"
MIWK, not "milk"
NOOK-YA-LER, not "nuclear"
OFF-TEN, not "often" (the 't' is supposed to be silent)
PUNKIN, not "pumpkin"
PUTCHER, not "put your"
REEL-A-TER, not "realtor"
REST-RONT, not "rest-au-rant"

SALLRY, not "sal-a-ry"
SELLRY, not "cel-er-y"
SHERBERT, not "sherbet"
SPOSED, not "supposed"
SUMBITCH, not "son of a bitch"
SUMMA DAT, not "some of that"
SUMPIN, not "something"
TEAR, not "terror"
TUH, not "to"
TWENNY, not "twenty"
UH, not "of" (as in 'I wanna drinkuh water')

WENZDAY, not "Wednesday"
WHATCHA or WHADDAYA, not "what do you"
WHERE YOU AT? not "where are you"
WHORE MOVIE, not "horror movie"
WIDJA, not "with you"
YER, not "your"
YOOSTA, not "used to"
YUH, not "you"

...also, most words that end in "ing" become just plain "in" and many, many others.

Okay, okay, not ALL Michiganders talk like this...but a lot of us do, ME included! And I've heard EVERY ONE of the above 40 terms uttered by Michiganders!
