Scott Westerman is resigning his post as associate vice president for alumni relations and executive director of the MSU Alumni Association, effective July 31, the Detroit Free Press reports. A complaint was filed against him with MSU's Office for Institutional Equity in February.

According to its website, the Office of Institutional Equity "reviews concerns related to discrimination and harassment based on age, color, gender, gender identity, disability status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, and weight under the University's Anti-Discrimination Policy (ADP) and Policy on Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct (RVSM)."

An MSU spokesperson told the Free Press the investigation into Westerman is ongoing.

Westerman said in his resignation letter he's moving to Florida to be closer to family and he plans to return to working in the private sector. Bob Thomas will serve as interim director for the MSU Alumni Association, according to the Free Press.
