Would you believe underage marriages have been taking place in Michigan for years?  

According to Wood TV 8,

Every year, girls as young as 14 years old are marrying adult men. Target 8 found out there is no legal age limit for marriage in Michigan, and underage marriages require written permission from only one parent.

The fact that kids can get married in Michigan before they are legally old enough to consent to sex is mind boggling.

Michigan Sen. O'Brien from Portage and Sen. Jones from Grand Ledge are introducing bills that would make the legal minimum age to marry 16 years old in our state.  16 is the age of consent.  But many think the legal age should be 18.
