Lorde had the right idea releasing a surprise single, 'No Better,' but she's 13 songs and 17 videos short of a full-blown cultural phenomenon!

You'd have to be living under a rock to not know it was Beyonce who took that prize -- right along with all of Lorde's thunder -- with the hush-hush release of her fifth album on the same day.

The 17-year-old New Zealander (who famously called the music of Nicki Minaj and Drake "irrelevant") got a little taste of it herself today (Dec. 13), dropping new single 'No Better' on iTunes... to seemingly no one's notice.

But we certainly expect that to change, as fans get a taste of the trip-poppy ballad and try to make out the words to the rapid-fire but still dreamy lyrics (sample lyric: "Like the movies that we watched that pretended it wasn't winter"). The track fits nicely with the material on her debut album, 'Pure Heroine.'

And in the end, it's not a contest between artists. It's all new music for us to discover and love -- even if Bey gave us more of it!
