Local Musician Will Appear on NBC’s ‘The Voice’
I've been told a number of times that the legendary, Green Door bar in Lansing is a place I have to check out if I love live, local music. According to the Lansing State Journal, there was a band that performed every Monday night there for over 14 years. Wow. That's quite a residency. If you're from the area, you've heard of Steppin' In It and now one of their members of the group, Joshua Davis is headed to the #1 singing competition show on television. If you aren't familiar with 'The Voice' it's pretty unique, and simple. There are three judges, and when Davis appears on the show, those judges will be, Blake Shelton, Pharell Williams, Christina Aguilera and Maroon 5's Adam Levine. The contestant sings, if the judge likes you, they turn around and then they pick who's team they want to be on.
Davis, who is a Traverse City native had nothing but love for the Lansing music scene as well in his interview with the State Journal. "I knew there was something special about the musicians in Lansing, but I'm coming to realize how special." This is really great, I will definitely be watching Mr. Davis in this competition. I'm a sucker for a good local stories anyway, but when they have to do with music, I'm even more in. So, obviously I need to check out the Green Door in Lansing. But where are some other great local music venues that I can stumble in to on a weeknight? Let me know people!
