Tonight is Mayor Virg Bernero's State of the City address, during which he will weigh himself to kick off the challenge he has set forth; Lansing Loses A Million.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Mayor Bernero explains that this is not just about losing weight, but "trying to underscore all of the opportunities to get healthy, to get fit." To go along with that statement, the Lansing Loses A Million challenge allows for participants to log pounds lost OR miles exercised. So even if your personal isn't to lose weight, you can still join the challenge and help Lansing towards it's goal!

Everyone who signs up to participate also gets a slew of different programs to help them, including free diet and fitness tracking tools, along with free nutritional and fitness coaching from the people at Lettuce Live Well; one of the organizations that helped bring this challenge to life.

If you're interested in participating in Lansing Loses A Million, Mayor Bernero is going to go into more details tonight during his State of the City address, which takes place at Lansing Community College's Gannon Commons, inside the Gannon Building at 7pm. You can watch on WILX-TV Channel 10 and on Lansing's public access channel or listen online at www.lansingmi.gov/govtv.

I'm really loving this idea, I think I might sign up! Do you think you'll be participating in this tri-county initiative?
