A threat made during a Laingsburg Middle School dance on Friday night put the school on lockdown, officials said.

Teaching staff and chaperones immediately placed all of the students in a secure location, secured the building and called 911. All of the students were safely released to their parent/guardian after the police made contact with the student in question.

LAINGSBURG - A threat made during a Laingsburg Middle School dance on Friday night put the school on lockdown, officials said. "A guest student reported to one of our teachers that she received a threatening call from a Laingsburg Middle School student who was not at the dance," Laingsburg Community Schools Superintendent Matt Shastal wrote in an email to parents just after 10 p.m.

At Fowlerville High School on Saturday afternoon, a wrestling competition was stopped after an off-duty police officer’s gun accidentally discharged. It happened at Fowlerville High School during a wrestling event inside the gym.

Following the accidental discharge, the gym was immediately evacuated.

No one was seriously hurt.
