For me, what a cup does or does not look like, doesn't dictate how I celebrate or feel about Christmas. So I'm not sure why all the drama is necessary over one company's decision to change a cup design...

Every November Starbucks releases their yearly holiday cup with it's new design, and this year's release has been full of controversy because a group of vocal people are claiming the new minimalist design has taken Christ out of Christmas and it's also completely PC. Here's a pic of this season's cup.

Evangelical Pastor Joshua Feurerstein even started a movement; He went to a Starbucks, ordered his coffee, and when they asked for his name, he replied "Merry Christmas", so as to trick Starbucks into having the words "Merry Christmas" on their cups. He then encouraged all "great Americans and Christians around this great nation" to go to Starbucks and order their coffees with the same "Merry Christmas" name and share their movement on social media with the hashtag #MerryChristmasStarbucks...

Many did go the route of the upset Pastor...

But many others have since hijacked the hashtag and used it, in my opinion, in a much more Christian way...

I can't believe anyone can be so offended but the lack of decorations on a cup. Seriously, "Taking the Christ out of Christmas", since when did we decide to make reindeer and snowflakes the official representatives of Christ or Christianity? Also, I would like to point out that Starbucks sells Christmas Blend coffee AND Advent Calendars. BuzzFeed has an article that sums up pretty accurately how I feel. But in the end, I think the real crime is paying $5 for a small coffee.

If you're still here, thanks! How do you feel about Starbucks red cups? Do you feel like Starbucks has taken the Christ out of Christmas? Do you stand with Starbucks in their choice to be more inclusive? Or you're more like me, and you're wondering why this is even an issue in the first place?
