Remember when the thought of contracting "H1N1" was super scary?  Yeah, it still should be.How long does the flu last?

TOO LONG.

Madison first started showing symptoms on Wednesday last week.  She did go back to school today.  It hit me Friday -- and I'm talkin', most out-of-commission I've been in a long time.  I had all the symptoms too -- high fever, cough, achy muscles.  I'm not 100%, but, I'm functioning for the most part.  Brennan and Sofia both got hit later in the weekend, but it seems they're over it for the most part.  Sarah picked it up Saturday night and, well, the jury's still out on her.  But, using our family as a guide... you'll be laid up anywhere from 3 to 6+ days.

So, unless you are cool with your life coming to a screeching halt for more than a week, this is what you need to know:

Doctors are saying H1N1 is the strain that's most common this season, and that it's targeting young adults!  Doctors also advise that it's not too late to get a flu shot, as we are approaching peak flu season!

Doctors say if you get the flu, stay away from people and rest.

I've been doing just that.  Well, and eating Chicken Noodle Soup.  I bought ten cans at my local Spartan store -- 10 cans for $5, it must be the "Everyone In Town Is Sick" sale.
Oh, and of course, the meds... and the kleenex...

By the way, being sick will cost ya in more ways than one!

Stay healthy, friends.
