Our admittance to the union may have come sooner, if not for the Toledo War. It's also known as the Michigan-Ohio War. (Who knew that our rivalry with the state of Ohio pre-dated football?)
Every year the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing celebrates Michigan Statehood Day. This year's celebration took place over the weekend.
