AAA says more than 1.4 million people from Michigan will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Independence Day weekend.

The auto club says Monday that's a 1.5 percent increase from last year. This would make this weekend the most traveled holiday weekend in 13 years.

AAA is thinking this weekend will be highly traveled cause gas prices are the lowest in 11 years.

The travel weekend is from Thursday through July 4th.  They also say peak travel times for Michigan will be Friday afternoon and the afternoon of the Fourth of July. So if you can leave early on Thursday that might be your best chance to avoid lots of cars. And on your way back try to come back on July 3rd and enjoy the 4th at home.
