Flashback Friday: Watch Jason Segal Serenade Linda Cardellini in ‘Freaks and Geeks’ [VIDEO]

Although it only aired for one season, 'Freaks and Geeks' is unquestionably a cult TV show. Over the course of 18 episodes, 'Freaks and Geeks' contributed numerous moments to the pop culture canon, but perhaps most memorable is when Nick serenades Lindsay with Styx's 'Lady.'

A little background on the ep, called 'Girlfriends and Boyfriends': Nick (played by Jason Segal) attempts to swoon his "Lady L" (aka Lindsay, played by Linda Cardellini) and he's pulling out all the stops. Yes, that means a lot of candlelight and, of course, expressing his emotions via the profound lyrics of Styx.

The scene is a favorite for so many reasons: Nick's transparent emotions, Lindsay's clear uncertainty, and of course, the inevitable, awkward I've-totally-been-there recall. Jason and Linda's spot-on acting nailed this scene, making it sweet, rather than awkward.
