Sweet redemption. After that loss last week, the Spartans needed something. Anything. Michigan State came into the game on Saturday versus Purdue injury depleted. On top of that list. The QB. Brian Lewerke was out with a shoulder injury. Truth be told, he played with it last week versus U of M. And even though he didn't practice Monday thru Thursday, he was well enough to play and dressed for Saturday's game.

Enter Rocky Lombardi.

They were chanting ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY! And Spartan fans could definitely smell what THIS ROCK...was cookin'.

Lombardi made his first career start on Saturday and the redshirt freshman quarterback guided Michigan State to a 23-13 win against Purdue in East Lansing on Saturday afternoon. He finished 26-for-46 passing for 318 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. (MLive)
