Along with Lansing kicking off the holiday season on Friday, Jackson is also doing the same with their Downtown Jackson Christmas Parade. The 28th annual parade starts at 6 p.m. Friday and the parade route starts on the west end of W. Michigan Avenue, eventually ending at Consumers Energy HQ (1 Energy Plaza). Another note about the parade since the route starts on Michigan Ave, it will be closed starting around 4pm.

This year's parade will be called "Christmas Angels" as a nod to the late Robin Kirkpatrick and her husband Ron, who would dress up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus, for the last 20 years. You can learn more about them and their story here, from MLive.  There will still be an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as 6 marching bands from local schools and of course dozens of floats. Also after the parade kids can meet with Santa at Consumer's Energy HQ and get some cookies and Hot Chocolate. In addition, after the parade you can keep your Christmas spirit going by seeing "Elf" at the Michigan Theater, and it will be free to enter.

Just a heads up if you are going you may park in any of the City Parking lots. And teh parade will take place rain, or shine so make sure you are bundled up. The weather for Friday isn't supposed to have any snow but it will be Highs in the Mid-30s.
