The first significant snowfall of the season dropped in on Sunday afternoon and evening, and it was enough to close one school district.

Eaton Rapids Public Schools is closed Monday.

Monday's forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds and a high topping 40 degrees.  This, and the fact that forecasters accurately predicted the snow would primarily stick only to grassy areas, not to roadways and sidewalks, had some in Eaton Rapids questioning whether the decision to close was made too hastily.  The system was expected to drop up to three inches of snow.

The chance of more snow is expected later this week, with high temperatures dropping into the 20s.
