If you have time to volunteer this weekend, the East Lansing Train Station is looking for you to help with Welcome Week arrivals. According to WILX, the Rail Passengers Association will be launching their nationwide Station Volunteer Program event at the Amtrak station in East Lansing. The event will be happening on Friday 8/23, 6 to 8 PM, and Saturday 8/24, 10 AM to 1 PM.

The Station Volunteer Program was launched to help the Amtrak trains and the station itself after the railroad company de-staffed multiple Amtrak stations. According to the WILX article, in talking with the Rail Passengers Association President and CEO Jim Matthews he said, "The Station Volunteer Program comes down to customer experience, and providing Amtrak passengers with a service that makes them feel welcomed into the community."

If you are looking to volunteer, then make sure you have a smile on your face and are ready to tell passengers about the area and assist them in navigating where to go next. You can see more about it here.
