A football game between the Durand Railroaders and Byron Eagles set for October 7th at Roundhouse Stadium in Durand will receive national attention as part of the Great American Rivalry Series.  Railroaders Coach Jason Gray said the team went through a nomination and selection process to be considered and was ultimately selected.

The honor means that in addition to Operation Freedom activities already planned, the event will feature a presentation of the Great American Rivalry Series Championship Trophy, presentation of the game's MVP trophy, awarding of the Rivalry Series Student-Athlete Scholarship to a senior from each team, a donation to the athletic fund, a special inflatable football on display in the End Zone area, a chin-up challenge between the two schools and more.

Operation Freedom isn't just a football game, it's an event for the entire family that will raise money for local men and women that have served our country. In addition to the game on October 7th, Operation Freedom will feature a small carnival for the kids and fireworks after the game.  Don't miss the 50/50, food and even a DJ.  Operation Freedom t-shirts -- Made in the USA -- are available for $15; just another way to support the cause.

The Durand Railroaders Varsity Football team is now 4-1.
