This is interesting. I didn't know this was a "thing". Or maybe wasn't a thing. Obviously if you're not in this kind of business where the use of drive thru speakers is helpful you, like me, would probably take it for granted that most all fast food type businesses would be permitted to use the speakers.

I thought the speakers could be used anywhere. I was incorrect in my assumption.

It took a court ruling, but the owner of the Charlotte Dairy Queen can now install drive thru speakers as they weren't allowed to before. According to the Lansing State Journal, the ruling reversed a decision by the Charlotte City Council that supported a ruling that stated no speakers were allowed at the business, due to the concern that it would be disruptive to the residential area where the restaurant is located.

The Charlotte Dairy Queen is located on South Cochran Avenue. It is a new construction that replaced a restaurant that was previously located on the site.
