I'm not sure I fully understand this, but, if I'm getting money back, I guess I don't need to know all the details, right?

The report from WILX-TV makes it sound like Consumers Energy requested to be able to raise rates back in the fall, and went ahead and raised rates without actually receiving approval, which seems weird... but ya know... I can get down with the "apologize later" mentality.

Sidebar: Is it weird that they have to get government approval to raise rates?  Are they not a private business?  Anyway...

Consumers raised our rates in the fall but the Michigan Public Service Commission ended up not approving the full rate hike, so, I guess Consumers owes us some dough.

If I'm understanding this report correctly, we're not actually going to get a check in the mail, though.  Our bills will just be adjusted to accommodate.  Hmph.

Oh, the really bad part about all this is that the Michigan Public Service Commission actually did approve a rate hike yesterday, so, even though our bills are going to go down, they're also going to...go...up....
