There has been much debate about the birthplace of Burt Reynolds.  Some claimed it was Lansing, Michigan while others asserted it was Waycross, Georgia.

Now, at 79, in his new book, "But Enough About Me," Reynolds confirms that he was, in fact, born in Lansing.

Why the secrecy throughout the years?  Anyone can speculate.  Some believe it was to protect his southern image, to lend more legitimacy to movie roles that he carried, David Votta, a Lansing historian that has researched Reynolds Lansing roots, told the Lansing State Journal.
