It sounds like Beyonce and 'Drunk in Love' inspired Aussie wunderkind Cody Simpson in more ways than one with his new single 'Surfboard.' It's markedly different than the easy, breezy, sunny and acoustic-driven pop we've come to know from Simpson.

In addition to the 'Surfboard' title, lyrics and metaphor, which is an oceanic way to talk about romance and dating, Simpson's voice is Auto-tuned and studio-treated and it's surrounded by beats.

It's a confident, synthy dance pop track that finds Simpson, a noted beach lover, riding a different sonic wave. He has more in common with Austin Mahone on this particular track and we like when artists shake things up and try new things with their music.
