Sightings of creepy clowns have been growing in frequency across the country in recent weeks. Heavy.com reports 28 states having documented creepy clown incidents, including several already in Michigan.

In some cases, creepy clowns are connected to threats against schools and children, leading some districts to close or issue statements about safety, USA Today reports. Meanwhile, the internet has responded with the hashtag #IfISeeAClown, offering suggestions on what to do if a creepy clown is spotted.

The Tab cites numerous students and East Lansing residents as having seen or heard about a clown.  One tweet purports to show a clown lurking on campus.

The Tab says there is no confirmation from authorities but campus police and university officials have been contacted for more information.
