If you want to get outside this beautiful weekend and head to the beach then you can also give back and help with the Great Lakes Cleanup. There are going to be thousands of volunteers all over Lake Michigan beaches and other beaches along the Michigan coast helping to clean up the beaches. The volunteers are helping on behalf of the Alliance for the Great Lakes' September Adopt-a-Beach event.

This event is huge every year as last year, according to WILX, there were over 6,000 volunteers that were able to pick up over 11,000 pounds of trash and debris. This event is known as the largest day of action for the Great Lakes. Also during the cleanup volunteers will track and record what type of trash they are cleaning up as in the last few years a majority of it has been plastic debris.

You can see all of the sites for cleanup this weekend and find out how to volunteer here.
