Cedar Point Unleashing A New Coaster This Spring!

I don't know about you, but for me, no summer is complete without a trip to Cedar Point. Yes, unfortunately you have to drive through Ohio to get there (I think it's safe to say that all Michiganders hate that part), but in the end I think it's worth it. And THIS year it will for sure be worth it because they are unveiling a brand new roller coaster this Spring!

If you're an adrenaline junkie, thrill seeker, or maybe just a roller coaster enthusiast, be sure to mark your calendars for May 9th; that's when Rougarou, Cedar Point's first floorless coaster opens up. The newest addition to Cedar Point's line-up is actually taking the place of former stand up coaster, Mantis.  And I for one am glad to see it go... I HATED the Mantis. I rode it once like seven years ago and it was awful (short girl problems for sure). But I'm really excited to try the Mantis' replacement, Roagarou.

The new coaster is actually named after a mythical creature. The name Rougarou is of French origin (pronounced roo-gah-roo), coming from the word loup-garou, meaning a man who transforms into a wolf. If that isn't an indication of how wild this ride is going to be, I don't know what is! Some other specs on this new coaster include speeds reaching over 60 MPH, an initial drop off of 137 feet, and four "howl-inducing inversions" (I see what you did there Cedar Point...lol). And, what makes Rougarou so different from other floorless coasters is that it's still attached to the track from the bottom of the train. The Raptor, (which is my FAVORITE ride there), is another floorless coaster at Cedar Point, but that coaster is attached via the TOP of the train. So the difference is that while your feet may be dangling in both situations, when you're sitting on Rougarou,  nothing is above you and your feet are dangling as you watch the track fly by right below you! Which is pretty crazy.

I am so stoked to check out this new coaster, especially because I love rides that let your feet dangle; it just adds so much more adrenaline and fun to the ride!
