Badge Stolen Years Ago from Ionia Firefighter’s Car Found Buried In Southern California

A simple yet very cool story of one person's exceptional thoughtfulness, and the coincidental connection between she and the man she set out to help:

Ionia Department of Public Safety says it was contacted late last week by a woman in San Diego California, stating that a badge belonging to an Ionia firefighter was found buried in the yard of a home that she used to own and that she wanted to get it back to the owner.

Ionia DPS says it made contact with a former Ionia firefighter that now lives in Southern California and that man confirmed that the badge had been stolen from his car many years ago.

The woman that reached out to Ionia DPS, Mishon Hurd-Korkmaz, happens to also have spent time in public service, as an employee of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
