If you know of people that use Airbnb or you use it yourself just know there will be an extra charge on it next month.  Airbnb has formalized an agreement with Michigan's Department of Treasury to collect the 6% use tax on rentals of 30 days or less.

Based on 2016 numbers, that means at least $1.5 million will funnel from Airbnb customers to the state. According to the Michigan Dept. of Treasury Michigan levies a 6 percent use tax on nightly rental charges when the duration is less than one month.

Bust just know that starting July 1, Airbnb customers booking in Michigan will automatically find the 6% tax when they make the purchase.
