This weekend Houghton and the U.P had a ton of rain causing mudslides, sinkholes, and roads being washed away. The strong storms, which was called a "thousand year event", that moved across the Upper Peninsula early Sunday washed out several roads in the Houghton and Hancock areas, creating 60 sinkholes across the Keweenaw Peninsula. There was about 6-9 inches of rain that fell very quickly Saturday night/ Sunday morning causing tons of damage.
