The script Celebrate St. Patrick's Day In New York City
Last year on St. Patrick's Day, the script released their self-titled debut album. This St. Patrick's Day, the Irish group will be rocking NBC's Today show. having already spent the early part of the week gracing the stages of Live with Regis & Kelly and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. While in New York City, the band is also taping an episode of Rachael Ray that will air in a couple weeks.
The script actually prefer to spend St. Patrick's Day in New York City, because believe it or not, it's a lot more festive holiday in the U.S. than it is back in their hometown of Dublin. The band says back home, people just treat the day as an excuse to take off work and get drunk, while in the U.S., it's a much bigger deal, with people happy about celebrating their heritage, and huge parades. As for the Dublin celebration, the script's Mark Sheehan, "It's hard because we don't have the weather...the parade is something we'd always do, but it seems that around parade season, it's always bloody bad weather."
The script are following in the footsteps of another Irish band whom they consider to be friends and mentors: U2. They've opened for the band several times and have gotten some valuable advice from Bono and The Edge. Mark Sheehan says, "Their word to us is always just be humble, you know. It's a job at the end of the day -- there's no need to treat people bad, there's no need to be rude." He adds that U2's advice "really resounds in our heads, y'know. Just to be normal people and approach people like they approach us, really."
