In my book, the official start to the Holiday Season is Silver Bells in the City in Downtown Lansing. I have fond memories of going there with my siblings and being surrounded with holiday cheer. Not to mention we would always buy warm, delicious peanuts from The Peanut Shop.

Do yourself a favor and take your families there this Friday. Here's what you can expect:

The Electric Light Parade has lighted floats and also brings the jolly man himself, Santa, to the festivities. It kicks off at 6pm on the corner of Lenawee and S. Washington Square.

The Silver Bells Village has local vendors from throughout the state and is the perfect place to start your holiday shopping. Look for that on the 100 E. block of Allegan St. between Washingotn Square and Grand Avenue.

The lighting of the Official State Christmas Tree is always an amazing spectacle and happens this year at 7:35pm.

And don't forget the live concert by AJR! That'll happen at 8:00. We're letting someone interview the guys at our station earlier in the day, plus take part in a live acoustic concert for you and your friends. Sign up here at www.975now.com
