Last week the 2015 Common Ground Music Festival announced when the festival will be taking place. The weather will be fantastic by the time July 7th rolls around for an all out jam fest Adado Riverfront Park. The festival will run through the rest of the week, and will wrap up on Sunday, July 12th. Who's playing the festival? Well that remains to be seen, but the festival expects to be announcing performers "soon." The Lansing State Journal has the low down on ticketing options.

The Common Ground Music Festival was one of my first exposures to the city of Lansing. Like any other 4th grader in Michigan, I had taken a field trip to the Capital and when I was in a band when I was 17 or so, I had played in East Lansing, but that was it. Then I heard about this festival a few years ago and I thought that it was so unique and cool to the city of Lansing. It's a great visual setting being right on the river, and it's truly a festival that everyone can enjoy, music wise. I have spent the last three years attending and covering the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester Tennessee. It's the only festival I can compare this one to. It's so diverse musically and runs for such a long time that you can head back two or three times. This has to be something you do in the summer of 2015. Is this the best event all summer long? I think it's up there.
